Electric bath lift
A bath lift is a device that allows physically people with disabilities - seniors and people with disabilities - to get in and out of a bathtub comfortably and, above all, safely. The aim of such a lift is to make personal hygiene possible and easier for people with physical disabilities. There are different model variants to buy - from models that are permanently mounted on the wall to air-filled bath pillows.
The classic bath lift
The classic bath lift, also known in the trade as a bath lift, bath lift or bath lift, is designed in the shape of a chair. Rather, it is a frame with a seat and a backrest. A classic model of a bath lift stands on a base plate in the tub. The frame is equipped with a lifting device. The lift is controlled with a waterproof and buoyant hand control unit. To enable entry into the bathtub, the lift is in its highest possible position so that the person with a disability can be transferred from the wheelchair. Using the hand control unit, the lift is lowered towards the bathtub floor. During the bathing process, the person requiring care remains seated on the seat. After bathing, the lift is raised again to the highest position with the help of the hand control, which makes transferring to the wheelchair possible.
Swivelling bath lifts — a specialist type
A swiveling bath lift provides a little more comfort for the person caring for them and more privacy for people with disabilities. Such a lift for the bathtub is mounted firmly on the wall, but can alternatively be placed next to the bathtub. The seat is firmly connected to a swivel arm on which the person with a disability sits. The swivel lift starts moving at the push of a button, with the arm swinging the seat unit with the person over the edge of the tub and then setting the person down. There are also special models of swivel lifts. These have wheels or a support bar that is attached between the floor and ceiling. Ceiling lifts are also available with a swivel arm. The ceiling lifts are also available in versions that have a seat unit similar to a triangle that hangs from the ceiling. The general advantage of such models with a swivel arm is that the person caring for them does not have to make a great effort to lift the person in need of care out of the wheelchair.
Rotating lifts — a useful feature
Another variant of a bath lift is the rotating version. Such a lift can be rotated thanks to a turntable or a swivel seat. Thanks to such a device, it is also easy for people with disabilities to get into the bathtub. The effort-intensive transfer of the person with a disability's body onto such a tub lift is no longer necessary. With a turntable model, the seat can be turned 90 degrees to the side. In this way, it is possible for seniors or people with disabilities, as long as they are not completely immobile, to sit on the swivel seat from outside the tub. The lower body can be easily swivelled into the bathtub. When buying such a bath lift online, you should not only make sure that the lift is as cheap as possible. The general construction should also play a role here and of course the ease of use.
